The Kurzweil LearnStation Award

What is a Kurzweil LearnStation?

The Kurzweil LearnStation is an important accommodation for the LD student with auditory and visual processing problems. It is a software program compatible with Windows and Mac operating systems. The students scan their class notes, or textbooks, and the machine converts text into speech. Additionally, users can access text in electronic files on their computer, or the World Wide Web, and have it read aloud to them.

The software includes a complete set of reading, writing, study skills, test taking and language learning tools designed to adapt to each individual’s learning style and encourage active learning.
